A journey across mountains and seas, a voyage connecting the ancient Silk Road with new opportunities. Recently, a delegation from the Beijing International Exchange Association traveled to Iran to carry out a series of activities focused on key areas including scientific and technological innovation, economic and trade cooperation, and cultural exchange. As one of the key outbound missions supported by the BRICS Platform for Enhancing Scientific Capacity and Innovation Cooperation, the visit not only opened new dimensions for China-Iran collaboration but also contributed valuable practical experience to the platform’s participation in building the “Belt and Road” science and technology cooperation network.

During the visit, the delegation conducted field exchanges at major Iranian science parks, universities, and innovation institutions. In-depth discussions were held with stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and research sectors on topics such as technology transfer, commercialization of research outcomes, and youth entrepreneurship. The visit actively promoted cooperation in emerging fields such as green technology, agricultural science and technology, and artificial intelligence. Representatives from both China and Iran reached initial consensus on promoting scientific exchange among small and medium-sized enterprises and jointly establishing incubation mechanisms.

Beyond practical talks, the delegation also actively participated in cultural exchange activities. They visited UNESCO World Heritage sites and engaged with local communities and youth groups to better understand Iran’s social development and cultural diversity, further deepening mutual understanding and trust.

Looking ahead, the BRICS Platform for Enhancing Scientific Capacity and Innovation Cooperation will continue to play its role as a vital bridge. Under the guidance of its managing organization, the Beijing International Exchange Association, it will further strengthen pragmatic cooperation with Iran and other countries in science, economy, and culture, jointly contributing to a new chapter of mutual benefit and shared prosperity.
