In order to echo the Thai theme and give full play to win-win advantages, in early 2022, Beijing International Exchange Association and the National Innovation Agency of Thailand jointly proposed the "APEC Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Startups Regional Network Program on Sustainable Growth". By leveraging on joint efforts from Thailand and China, the program focuses on promoting regional Biology-Circular-Green (BCG) startups network through organising BCG policy sharing workshops and project roadshows as well as publishing one best practice of BCG technology with the aims of exploring adoptable BCG models for a more balanced and sustainable post-pandemic growth.
The project closely aligns the theme of "Open, Connect, Balance" proposed by Thailand, the 2022 APEC host economy. Through early communication, it got nine economies’ co-sponsorship including Chile, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Russia, the Philippines and Peru. A three-day policy seminar and project roadshow are expected to be hosted on September 2023 in China.
This project stands out from more than 20 projects within the PPSTI group, and is also the second funded project undertaken by BIEA after the “APEC Startups Incubator Capacity Building towards Digital Era” in 2019.
