Following the announcement that China will host APEC 2026, the Beijing International Exchange Association (BIEA) has actively advanced preparations to support APEC China Year through science, technology, and innovation cooperation.

In April 2025, BIEA submitted two project proposals to the APEC Secretariat: the APEC Tech for Good Workshop and APEC Technology-Enabled Low-Carbon Action (TELCA): Roadmap, Inclusiveness and Partnerships. Both proposals successfully passed evaluation and were officially approved for APEC funding.

As flagship initiatives supporting APEC China Year 2026, the two projects have received joint backing from multiple APEC member economies, including Hong Kong, China; the Republic of Korea; Malaysia; Peru; the Philippines; Russia; Thailand; and Viet Nam. Dr. Guo Jieni, Secretary-General of the Beijing International Exchange Association, stated that through a dual-track approach of “tech for good” and “low-carbon transition,” the projects aim to work hand in hand with APEC member economies and partners, using science and technology innovation and low-carbon cooperation as a bridge to jointly write a new chapter in the Asia-Pacific’s sustainable development.
