On the afternoon of July 12, 2023, the Forum on Enhancing Digital Literacy and Skills for Key and Special Populations was successfully held online. The forum brought together nine expert representatives from globally influential scientific organizations, science communication institutions, universities, and the private sector to engage in in-depth discussions on improving digital literacy and skills among key and special populations. Against the backdrop of rapidly advancing digital technologies, the forum directly addressed the real challenges of the “digital divide” faced by vulnerable groups—including older adults, persons with disabilities, and rural populations—while exploring pathways to building a more equitable, inclusive, and age-friendly digital society.
With the support and coordination of the Beijing International Exchange Association, the BRICS Platform for Enhancing Scientific Capacity and Innovation Cooperation actively participated in the forum. It contributed insights and shared experiences on topics such as inclusive digital skills, regional capacity building, and multilateral cooperation. The platform’s engagement showcased its practical efforts in advancing science and technology equity and capacity building, further deepening its involvement and influence in global science and technology governance.
