In response to the growing momentum of global scientific collaboration, “Empowering BRiCS+ Countries with Emerging Technologies’ Capacity Building for High-Quality and Sustainable Development”, initiated by the Beijing International Exchange Association, has been officially launched. As a key multilateral initiative under the BRICS science and technology innovation framework, the platform seeks to promote joint research, technology transfer, and talent exchange in emerging technological fields. It is committed to building an open, shared, pragmatic, and sustainable mechanism for international scientific cooperation.
The platform focuses on key areas such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, biomedicine, and advanced manufacturing. It is structured around four core functions: technology policy information sharing, collaborative R&D projects, research resource matching, and international science events organization. It also actively responds to the United Nations’ “Decade of Science for Sustainable Development” by aligning science and innovation efforts with global sustainability goals.
Several flagship initiatives have already been launched under the platform, including the STEM Empowerment Program, Science Capacity Building Workshops, Future Development Forum, and the Startup Acceleration Initiative. These efforts aim to explore effective pathways for integrated “science–policy–society” development and strengthen the global voice and influence of BRICS and “BRICS+” countries in the international innovation landscape.
Aligned with the development goals of the Beijing International Center for Science and Technology Innovation, the platform aspires to become a demonstration hub for international scientific cooperation and capacity building among BRICS+ nations, contributing Chinese wisdom and solutions to the shared mission of global sustainable development.
