February 26 (UTC+1), Dr. Jieni Guo, Secretary General of the Beijing International Exchange Association, headed to UN headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland and paid a special visit to Mr. Angel Gonzales Sanz, Director of the Technology, Innovation and Knowledge Development Department of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Dr. Guo and Mr. Sanz had in-depth conversations, exchanging opinions regarding how to empower civil societies and extend their influences given the special consultative status.

Mr. Sanz, who is also the head of the Secretariat of the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD), warmly welcomed Dr. Guo and mentioned the solid cooperation foundation between BIEA and CSTD over the past years. Dr. Guo introduced the work of the BIEA, especially its efforts made to promote international exchanges, and presented Sanz with the BIEA 2023 annual report. The two sides reached an important cooperation consensus on participating in the Commission’s annual meeting and organizing the side meeting of the United Nations Science and Technology Innovation Forum.
